Purpose and Use Cases

How It Works

Powdery Mildew Screening works on all plant species. However, when testing cannabis this requires a special DNA collection kit (included with the cost of testing) that enables you to collect DNA from mature leaves or flower without extracting cannabinoids, making samples legal to mail back to our lab from anywhere. We developed this test to specifically identify powdery mildews and can distinguish them from other fungal DNA that might be present in a sample (White et al., 1990; Takamatsu et al, 2001). Ensuring effective powdery mildew treatment and eradication before the problem returns can save you from losing any more of your harvest.

In addition to providing a result for the specific presence/absence of powdery mildew DNA, this test contains an internal control that will detect the presence/absence of any non-specific fungal DNA present in the sample. This extra information is incredibly useful, as sometimes a sample that you think is powdery mildew is actually something else. In these cases, instead of simply providing a negative result, we will inform you that your sample was positive for background non-specific fungal DNA. In cases of non-specific fungal DNA detection, additional testing to determine the exact species can be performed at your request.

Detailed instructions along with a sample collection form will be sent to you with the DNA collection kits so you can properly document all necessary information. ​We track samples submitted to our lab using the sample collection form, which should contain the same contact information used when purchasing testing here on our website. Results and Billing

We deliver results electronically within 2-5 business days after we receive your samples. Turnaround time ultimately depends on the number and quality of samples submitted. Charges will appear on your statement as Delta Consulting.
